A township development is defined as the planning, design and construction (including alterations to existing) of the roads and utility services infrastructure that is required to service a residential or commercial or industrial urban community. The objectives of the two-day course are to: Learn the skills required to understand the hydrology, hydraulic, statistical computations needed to select and analyze flood protection and stormwater control alternatives. This course aims to make sense of this complex topic and to assist you in selecting the best approach. It also focuses on the practical application of sound planning and design practices, specific flood control and stormwater management current techniques. Emphasis will be on demonstrating the pros and cons of alternative design and implementation strategies, the pitfalls that should be avoided, and the design features that characterize successful systems. COURSE OUTLINE: ❖ Drainage & Stormwater design criteria ❖ Drainage design computer software review ❖ Computing flows based on rainfalls ❖ Hydrology methods of computing runoff ❖ Hydraulic design of open channel ❖ Hydrology modelling & flow flood levels ❖ Flood control advantages & disadvantages ❖ Flood control: selection of design criteria ❖ Flood plain mapping ❖ Land drainage ❖ Alternative urban stormwater best management practices ❖ Selecting Stormwater best management facilities ❖ How to select facilities ❖ Review of drainage design software ❖ Open channel design WHO SHOULD ATTEND: ❖ Municipal Engineers ❖ Technical Personnel ❖ Civil Engineers ❖ Infrastructure Planners ❖ Design Engineers ❖ Consultants ❖ Developers ❖ Planners ❖ Project Managers ❖ Stormwater Managers ❖ Geotechnical Engineers and Consultants ❖ Water Resource Engineers ❖ Environmental Scientists ❖ Environmental Engineers ❖ Municipal Roads and Stormwater Directors/Managers
